ALLENDALE - Mrs. Gloria Jean Braxton McDaniel, 85, devoted wife of Jack McDaniel and resident of Lawton Drive in Allendale, S.C., passed away early Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026, at the Lexington Community Hospice House in Lexington, S.C.

Born May 12, 1941, in Asbury Park, New Jersey; Mrs. McDaniel was the daughter of the late Jack Braxton and Maybelle Lawson Braxton. She was a graduate of Allendale-Fairfax High School, class of 1959, and was a beautiful person inside and out. She was a pageant queen who won many beauty contests throughout her younger years such as being “Miss Fairfax”, “Miss Allendale-Fairfax”, and “Queen of the St. George Basketball Tournament.” Mrs. McDaniel worked as the bookkeeper for Little Red Logging Company Incorporated for many years but most importantly was a homemaker. Additionally, she enjoyed crocheting and gardening; was a great cook, and had a deep love for animals. Mrs. McDaniel will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who remained devoted to caring for her family right up until the end.

Mrs. McDaniel was a member of Swallow Savannah United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband of over 65 years, Jack White McDaniel Sr., of the home; are her daughters, Lisa McDaniel Ferguson (Raymond) of Barnwell and Gail McDaniel Copeland of Moncks Corner; her sons, Jack McDaniel Jr. of Allendale and Riley McDaniel (Michelle) of Hampton; her adored grandchildren: Justin Ferguson (Auburn), McIver Ferguson, Ashley Singleton (Danny), Nicholas Clapp (Alexis), Patrick Copeland, Amelia Copeland, Addie McDaniel, Laney Futch, Maci Futch, and Emmy McDaniel; her cherished great-grandchildren: Fisher, Reid, Walt, Zachariah, Gabriel, Aunna, Avah, Slater, Aspen, Brynley, Cohen, and Dustin; one sister, Pat Godley of Hampton; and one brother, Frank Braxton of Varnville. There are also many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends who survive.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDaniel was predeceased by four brothers, Albert Braxton, Norman Lee Braxton Sr., William Braxton Sr. and Ronald Braxton; a sister, Delores Reynolds; and a grandson, Jackson Devie McDaniel.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2026, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial following in the Swallow Savannah Cemetery in Allendale, S.C.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. and last until the hour of the service at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, S.C. 29924.
