BARNWELL - John David Curtis, 57, of Barnwell, S.C. passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 4 o’clock p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, S.C. with the Reverend Jeremy Creech officiating.
Born in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., he was a son of Susan Lowe Reeves and the late John Lee Curtis. He was a self-employed skilled carpenter who had a green thumb and loved gardening and tending to his flowers. He also loved to cook and share with his family and friends as it was always his nature to cook extra. Being on the water was his favorite pastime; he loved fishing, crabbing and shrimping.
Survivors include his mother, Susan Lowe Reeves; his life partner, Dezeray Wright-Curtis; his daughter, Kendra Curtis (Darryl) Jumper; his son, Joshua Curtis; grandson, Everett Layne Jumper; brothers, John Daniel (Kristen) Curtis, James Allen (Cindy) Giamportome and Scott Reeves; sisters, Jamie (Kevin) Churchwell and Debra Ray; and numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who he dearly loved.
In addition to his dad, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Curtis.
