ISOLA, MS – Danny Heyward Still, 68, passed away at his home on September 27, 2024.
Danny was born in Barnwell, S.C. to the late John Heyward Still Jr. and Geneva Hayes Still. Danny attended Barnwell High School, graduating in 1974. Danny graduated from Carson Newman College in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. While attending Carson Newman, Danny was in the ROTC Program, commissioning as a Second Lieutenant into the U.S. Army in the Field Artillery Branch. After leaving active duty in 1989, he continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves and retired in 1999 as a Major. He worked as a safety manager for the city of Jackson, MS for over 20 years, retiring in 2022.
Danny was a member of Capital Lodge No. 600 F & AM of Jackson, MS.
Survivors include two sons, Brent (Sasha) Still of Clinton, MS; Erik (Courtney) Still of Barnwell, S.C.; daughter, Kellee (Ryan) Burke of Big Pine Key, FL; brother, Mike (Val) Still of Augusta, Ga.; sister, Beverly (Sandy) Nettles of Williston, S.C.; four grandchildren, Oz Still of Clinton, MS; Emmy Benedict and Sadie Still of Barnwell, S.C.; Madeline Burke of Big Pine Key, FL.
In addition to his parents, Danny was predeceased by his wife, Mary, and his grandson, Jaden Pierce.
A private burial will take place at Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery.
The family has entrusted Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory with arrangements.
