BARNWELL COUNTY - It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Christopher Richard Andrews, 66, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this world on July 11, 2026. Born on February 26, 1960, in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, New York, Christopher was a beacon of warmth, generosity, and joy.

Christopher was the cherished son of Taras and Nancy [Fiori] Andrews, who predeceased him, alongside his dear sisters, Donna Marie and Susan Marie Andrews. Survived by his devoted wife of almost 36 years [together 43 years], Elvira Vitanza Andrews, with whom he shared a life radiant with affection, abounding in adoration for each other. Their life journey began in July 1983 with a first glance of Elvira’s silhouette; knowing she would be his future wife but just wanting to take her on a ride. Oh! what a ride it was! Chris was a dear man who gave his heart and soul to Elvira. She was his sun and moon and their world adventures filled in the gaps. They shared a passion for travel, particularly the many miles they spent exploring the countryside on his treasured Harley Davidson.

Chris was a proud graduate of Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, N.Y. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Denver, Colorado, where he earned his Auto and Diesel certification, along with numerous advanced automotive educational credits. For over 40 years, Chris dedicated his life to his work as an automotive mechanic, eventually owning and operating his own shop, 'Brakes-N-Repairs’. Known for his expertise and integrity, Chris was a trusted figure in his community, often extending his services to those in need.

A man of deep faith, Chris was a lifelong Roman Catholic who expressed his devotion through regular attendance at Traditional Mass and volunteering for various church projects. His commitment to his faith was mirrored in his love for the open road. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Chris was often seen cruising with his signature leather jacket and 1930s style helmet, always with a broad, infectious smile. Music was his ‘Jam’ and he could often be spotted in his beloved “Rolling Stones” T-shirt! He was blessed with the ability to self-learn how to play the guitar and jammed with many great musicians. Chris, “known for his fast curveball”, loved sports especially softball and bowling, playing in many men’s leagues.

Christopher was not just a man of skills and faith, but also of incredible heart and spirit. His tough exterior hid his soft heart and he cared dearly for those who needed support or uplifting. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and cherished. His warmth, humor, and kindness left an indelible impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

Chris is survived by his loving siblings: Gregory [Maria], Matthew [Jacqueline], Stephen [Karen], and Michael [Roseann] Andrews. He was a cherished uncle to his nephews Michael [Jillian], Nicholas, Benjamin, Anthony [Cariann] Andrews, and his niece, Marissa Andrews. Although Chris had no children, his legacy of love and kindness lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A service to honor Christopher's life will be held on July 21, 2026, at Mole Funeral Home, located at 9399 Patterson Street, Barnwell, S.C. 29812. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m., with visitation following from 10 to 11 a.m. A Traditional Latin Funeral Mass will commence at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside burial. Family and friends are invited to join in a reception at St. Andrews Catholic Church (228 Madison St., Barnwell) afterward to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Christopher's generous spirit and enduring compassion.

Christopher Andrews' life was a testament to love, dedication, and the joy of living. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will forever be a guiding light in our lives.

With love honor and respect, always and forever Chris will dearly be missed!
